Las ventajas de la ecografía doppler de pene para obtención de información de flujos vasculares.
La semana pasada, tuve el placer de participar en un curso de fundamentos de ecografía doppler y ecografía doppler de pene. Estas jornadas estuvieron dirigidas por el Dr. Eugenio Cerezo, uno de los mayores expertos de este país en ecografía músculo-esquelética y peneana.
La ecografía doppler es una prueba muy utilizada para obtener información sobre los flujos vasculares de las arterias y venas. La mayoría de las alteraciones vasculares como son las afecciones de los vasos (carótida, piernas y brazos), pueden evaluarse con esta técnica. Las ventajas que aporta son: que no es invasiva, no es dolorosa y no emite radiaciones.
En Urología, solicitamos esta prueba para valorar la vascularización de los testículos, en particular cuando el paciente padece un varicocele. Esta situación se produce cuando las venas que recogen la sangre del testículo se dilatan y pueden producir una modificación de la temperatura testicular, afectando a la producción de espermatozoides. El Dr. Cerezo impartió una charla magistral sobre los fundamentos de la ecografía doppler de pene, una técnica esencial para valorar la vascularización del pene tanto en flacidez como en erección.
La prueba en erección se realiza introduciendo en el pene una sustancia llamada Prostaglandina que produce una erección sin estímulo sexual. Permite realizar un estudio preciso de los cambios arteriales que se producen en los principales vasos del pene durante la erección y también da información sobre el sistema venoso del mismo, que debe “cerrarse” para lograr una erección adecuada.
En la charla que impartí sobre disfunción eréctil, expuse que en los pacientes que no responden adecuadamente a los diferentes tratamientos medicamentosos para la erección, o en aquellos en que no encontramos causa para sus problemas eréctiles, esta prueba aporta información muy valiosa que permite descartar un origen psicológico y valorar la mejor opción de tratamiento.
